Fresh Expressions Seminar -- Rescheduled

A Fresh Expression is a form of church for our changing culture, established primarily for the benefit of those who are not yet part of any church.

Every Church in our Association has the ability to create a fresh expression! Several Churches could partner together to launch a Fresh Expression.

Pastor, come and bring key leaders to this seminar! You will be glad you did.

Fresh Expressions is an international movement of missionary disciples cultivating new kinds of church alongside existing congregations to more effectively engage our growing post-Christian society.

Southwest Virginia Partnership Mission Trip Informational Meeting

The Mission Trip has been CANCELLED.

The mission trip dates are May 3 - May 8, 2010. The informational meeting will provide details regarding the trip as will as information on lodging, travel and cost.

Southwest Virginia Partnership Inc. is based in Nickelsville, VA. We serve within three Baptist Associations: Clinch Valley, Powell River, & Wise.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome. We have had volunteers from ages 2-93. Many teams have large age ranges among them, which allows the younger generation to learn from and work alongside the older generation.

Food Pantry

The local food pantry in Scott County is open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9am-2pm. Volunteers have many jobs here such as filling USDA or salvage bags, sorting through produce or freezer items, putting together carts for clients, carrying bags to clients' vehicles, entertaining the children who come to the pantry, or managing the front desk if necessary.

Construction Sites

There are plenty of construction projects to be done. We have constructed ramps, fixed roofs, installed handicapped bathrooms, worked on vinyl siding, etc.  These projects serve as great opportunities for the older generation to teach the younger ones what they have learned over the years.

Nursing Home

When the food pantry is closed, volunteers will use their mornings to visit those at Nova Health and Rehabilitation Center. They are able to talk with the residents while also playing bingo. Groups can even come up with their own activity if they choose.
